Hawaiian Electric Launches BYOD Plus Program – What It Means for Hawaii Solar Customers
### What Is Changing?
- The BYOD Level 1 program closes on May 15, 2025 and is replaced by BYOD Plus.
- Contractors must still select "BYOD Level 1" in the Customer Interconnection Tool (CIT) until the software is updated; Hawaiian Electric will treat submissions as BYOD Plus.
### Why This Matters to You
- Earn incentives for using your battery to stabilize the grid.
- Maximize the return on your battery investment by participating in grid services.
- Support Hawaiiʻ’s clean energy goals by making renewable resources more accessible to the grid.
### How Alternate Energy Hawaii Can Help
- Guide you through the CIT process and ensure your system meets BYOD Plus requirements.
- Handle all paperwork and interconnection agreements on your behalf.
- Provide expert support if you’re adding battery storage to an existing solar system.
