What happens after you submit

  1. A member of our team contacts you to confirm your goals and property details.
  2. We review your usage, your roof and your electrical service.
  3. You receive a written proposal for the system that fits your property, with financing options if you want them.
  4. If you go ahead, we handle design, permitting and Hawaiian Electric interconnection, then install with our in-house team.

A note on tax credits in 2026

The federal Residential Clean Energy Credit (Section 25D) is not available for expenditures made after December 31, 2025, according to the IRS. In Hawaii, Act 24 (SB 3125), signed May 21, 2026, changes the state Renewable Energy Technologies Income Tax Credit: it sets a $40 million annual cap on allowable credits starting in 2027 and sunsets the credit in 2030. Governor Green's Executive Order 26-02 says systems placed in service in 2026 are not subject to that cap if the taxpayer can show it relied on the credit when it invested in the project before May 21, 2026. Is the estimate really free?

Yes. There is no charge for the estimate and no obligation to buy.

How do I know if my roof is ready for solar?

A solar-ready roof has enough remaining life, clear usable space and a structure suited to the system. We check roof readiness as part of your estimate and can plan roofing and solar together.

Should I add a battery now or later?

It depends on your outage concerns, budget, Hawaiian Electric program availability and how much backup you want. Some homes design solar and battery together; others plan a battery-ready system for a later phase. See our battery storage page and HECO BYOD Plus guide.

Who handles permits and Hawaiian Electric interconnection?

We do. Solar projects need design review, permits, utility coordination and inspection before the system operates. Timelines vary by project and program, and we explain the steps for yours in the proposal.

Can I get an estimate for something other than solar?

Yes. Use the "Interested In" options to request solar water heating, air conditioning, battery storage, EV charging, roofing, electrical work or maintenance.
