Alternate Energy launches ‘Future Fund’ with $32,000 donation to Kaiser High School

Alternate Energy Inc. launch the Alternate Energy Future Fund this month with a $32,000 donation to Kaiser High School. The Future Fund is designed to help local public schools and students as they prepare for a brighter future for Hawaii.

The donation check was presented to head Coach Rich Miano at the Kaiser homecoming game on Oct. 11. The money will provide the high school gym with a brand new weight training facility outfitted with all new equipment.

Upcoming projects to be supported by the Future Fund include a scholarship program at Aiea High School that will support outstanding college- or technical school- bound students seeking to pursue a career in an alternative energy field. Several of the Alternate Energy solar pros are Aiea High graduates.

Bruce Ekimura, owner and founder of Alternate Energy and a Kaiser graduate, said, “Virtually all of our employees at Alternate Energy are a product of the Hawaii public school system. The deep connection we feel to our community and to each other started with that experience. Now we are grateful for the opportunity to give back. We hope the contributions we make through the Alternate Energy Future Fund will inspire and enable public school students and educators to continue doing their very best for our state. They are our future.”
