If the Sun Has Enough Energy to Power the Entire Planet, Then Why Are We Still Using Finite Resources?

A variety of physical and logistical challenges continue to play a part in why we still use coal, oil and gas. The sun doesn’t shine everywhere on the planet, causing solar energy to be unevenly distributed, especially at night or on cloudy days. We would need an efficient way to provide electricity from the sunny spots to the cloudy ones-- as well as an effective way of storing the energy once acquired. Convincing civilians and government officials to provide a substantial amount of funding and space for the infrastructure could be extremely complicated, as going completely solar may not seem important to some. The difference of the spaces demanded for renewable energy and finite energy is that the land for wind and solar energy is fixed and doesn’t run out. Coal and oil wells on the other hand, dry out and force us to find new locations to drill--contributing to the increasing pollution. Political leaders and lobbyists continue to be the main reasons going 100% renewable seems impossible, resulting in our dependence on dirty energy.

While installing personal solar panels may seem like a small gesture, its one that has a lasting impact and saves you a lot of money in the end! Luckily storing your homes energy isn't as difficult as storing the entire world's energy could be. The Home Energy Storage Solution (H.E.S.S.) is an intelligent storage system utilizing the TESLA Powerwall or LG Chem RESU Solar Storage systems with Panasonic Electric solar panels. Consumers can now optimize their energy savings with the security of emergency backup power and the option to not export to HECO's grid.

Hawaii has an ambitious goal of becoming 100% independent of fossil fuels by 2045 and every solar panel installation brings us closer to achieving it. Call us to find out how you can be a part of the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative.
